Articles from Newspapers about
Colin and his music, his diverse and interesting collection of

News and Review

From Northwest Reno Library
This morning, Colin Ross Duo performed at
Northwest Reno Library to a very appreciative audience of 28
people. Colin played a variety of instruments including piano,
acoustic guitar, a couple resonator guitars (one dating back to
the ‘30s), recorders, and mandolin. Colin adjusted his program
to the audience (even taking a request), while his keyboard
accompanist, Nancy Barker, had no problem keeping up with the
changes. Colin sang while he and Nancy performed several
different styles of music: American folk, traditional Irish
folk, Mississippi blues, jazz, swing, and pop – from an original
tune (“James Beckwourth’s Lament”) to Muddy Waters (“Good
Morning, Mr. Blues”) to Floyd Cramer (“Last Date”) and Ray
Charles (“Blind Date” – an interpretation of “Last Date”).
The program was not only entertaining but also educational as
Colin stopped to talk about music history and music theory,
describing the background to his various instruments and styles
of performance. Colin and Nancy are both very easy-going, nice
to work with, and fun to listen to. Colin expressed his thanks
for being able to perform at the local libraries. Apparently,
his 10-year old daughter is quite the virtuoso violinist and
might join him on next year’s roster. Thanks to the Friends of
Washoe County Library, Pioneer Center Youth Programs, Beate, and
everyone else involved in getting the word out there and
bringing Colin Ross Duo to our community.

1.
Evolution of the Blues Poster this is a High Resolution jpg of the
poster with the marquee left blank for you to put your venue and
dates. The Marquee is also a high res for you to use to help getting
the perspective correct. I use Adobe Photoshop to do this. You can
make a single layer after adding your text then copy to main image.
Once there you can use the "Edit" -> "Transform" -> "Perspective"
to match the existing marquee area. Please contact
Webmaster Mike if you need help, We want them to look good. The
File is large zero-compression jpg to be printed up 11 X 17
size. I suggest using a 80lb gloss stock to print these on.
